GoHighLevel alternatives: what to use instead, and what it really costs
Nine alternatives with prices read off each vendor's own page, an honest look at what HighLevel bills once usage lands, the people who should stay exactly where they are, and what actually moves if you leave.
See it before you decide anything
KBD opens to a small first group. Leave your email and we will show you the system working before we ask you for anything.
The short version
- The sticker price is not the bill. HighLevel’s own pricing page states that phone numbers, SMS, emails sent and premium AI are charged on top of the subscription, and it does not publish those rates on that page.
- Cheapest real alternative: Systeme.io — free for 2,000 contacts, then $17/month. Cheapest full all-in-one: Kartra at $59/month. Best for course delivery: Kajabi. Best for agencies reselling: Vendasta.
- Most people leaving HighLevel do not need a different builder. They need to know what to put in the one they already have. Swapping an empty toolbox for a cheaper empty toolbox solves the bill, not the problem.
- Some people should stay. If you are an agency reselling at markup, or you send SMS at volume, or you have already built it and it runs — leaving costs you more than staying. There is a whole section on that below.
- Nothing here is an affiliate link. Every price was read off the vendor’s own pricing page on 6 August 2026 and linked, and where a vendor does not publish a number this page says so instead of estimating one.
Why do people look for a GoHighLevel alternative?
Almost nobody leaves GoHighLevel because it lacks a feature. They leave because of what it costs to operate — in setup time first, and in usage billing second.
HighLevel is genuinely one of the broadest products in this market. The complaints that recur are not about capability. They are about the gap between buying it and having anything running.
Ordered by how often each one is the reason someone starts shopping
- Day-one overwhelm. Twenty-odd tool categories open at once with no on-ramp. The most common description of the first session is a blank dashboard and the question of what to do with it.
- The build is still yours. The platform hands you the tools; you build every funnel, workflow, pipeline and email. This is so consistently true that an entire freelance market exists selling done-for-you HighLevel setup — people paid to finish a product their client already bought.
- The bill moves. Usage is billed separately from the subscription and the rates are not on the pricing page, so the number on your card in month three is not the number you agreed to in month one.
- The training is aimed at agencies. The certification and university material is written for people running client accounts. If you are one business with one offer, a lot of it is answering a question you did not ask.
- Per-sub-account add-on pricing. The AI Employee is priced per sub-account, not per agency, which is fine at one client and painful at fifteen.
- Individual features feel unfinished. The breadth is real and the depth is uneven; email deliverability is the most persistent specific complaint.
What does GoHighLevel actually cost per month?
The published plans are $97, $297 and $497 a month, and none of them includes usage. HighLevel’s own pricing page states that phone numbers, SMS, emails sent and premium AI are charged on top — and does not print those rates on that page.
This is the section every other page about HighLevel pricing gets paid to write. Six of the eight non-vendor results on this query lead on hidden costs, and every one of them routes its links through an affiliate redirect. So here is the same information without a commission attached, taken from the vendor’s own page on 6 August 2026.
The published subscription tiers
| Plan | Published price | What it is really for |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $97/mo | Three sub-accounts, no rebilling. A single business, or an agency's first three clients. |
| Unlimited | $297/mo | Unlimited sub-accounts and usage rebilling at cost. The first tier that works as an agency. |
| Agency Pro | $497/mo | Resell HighLevel as your own software, and rebill usage with a markup. |
| Enterprise | Custom | Quoted by their sales team. |
The add-ons, and why “per sub-account” is the phrase to watch
Add-on pricing is where a bill stops being predictable, because several of the add-ons are priced per sub-account rather than per agency. All figures below are from the same page on the same day.
| Add-on | Published price | Charged per |
|---|---|---|
| AI Employee — Growth | $50/mo | per sub-account |
| AI Employee — Unlimited | $97/mo | per sub-account |
| WhatsApp integration | $10/mo | per sub-account |
| HIPAA compliance | $297/mo | account |
| White-label mobile app | $497/mo | account |
| Premium support | $500/mo | account |
Do the arithmetic on the published numbers and the anchor moves. A Starter plan using all three of its sub-accounts, with the cheapest AI Employee tier on each, is $97 + (3 × $50) = $247 a month before a single text message is sent. That is not a hidden fee — it is on their page. It is simply not the number people quote when they say HighLevel costs ninety-seven dollars.
The usage layer, and what we will not pretend to know
HighLevel’s pricing page says this, verbatim, as read on 6 August 2026:
“Your subscription covers the platform features, but there are usage-based costs for telecommunications and AI services, which are standard across the industry. This includes charges for phone numbers, SMS (text messaging), emails sent, and premium AI usage.”
That is an honest disclosure and it is also the whole problem: the rates themselves are not on that page. Usage is drawn from a prepaid balance that is topped up from your card, which is why the recurring complaint is not “it is expensive” but “I signed up for one number and a different one arrived.”
We are not going to publish a modelled monthly usage bill. Doing it properly needs per-segment SMS, per-minute voice and per-thousand-email rates, and those are not on the page we checked. Independent teardowns put real bills meaningfully above sticker, and we believe them — but a number we cannot source is a number we will not print. If you want your own figure, look at your last three HighLevel invoices rather than at anyone’s blog post, including this one.
Which GoHighLevel alternatives are worth looking at?
Nine, and the right one depends entirely on which half of the job is broken for you: the tools, or knowing what to put in them.
The last column is the one no other comparison table in this category carries, and it is the question that actually predicts whether you will still be using the thing in six months. “Does it come loaded?” means: on the day you log in, is there anything in it, written for your business?
| Tool | Best for | Free trial | Starting price | Does it come loaded? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| KBD Systems | Wanting it done, not built | No — pre-launch | See pricing | Yes — that is the product |
| Keap | Service-business CRM | Yes — free trial, card not required | $299/mo | No |
| Kajabi | Course delivery | Yes — 30 days | $179/mo (Basic) | No |
| Kartra | Cheapest full all-in-one | Yes — 14 days | $59/mo (Essentials) | Partly — templates and campaign imports |
| ClickFunnels | Funnels and copy strategy | Yes — 14 days | $97/mo (Launch) | No |
| Systeme.io | Free and near-free | Yes — a permanently free plan | $0, then $17/mo | No |
| ActiveCampaign | Deep email automation | Yes — 14 days, no card | Quoted by contact volume | Partly — a large recipe library |
| HubSpot | Companies with a team | Yes — a permanently free tier | $20/mo/seat, then $800/mo | No |
| Vendasta | Agencies reselling | Yes — 14 days, no card | $0 subscription, $99/mo minimum spend | No |
The nine, one at a time
KBD is listed first because this is KBD’s website, which is a thing a comparison page should say out loud rather than hope you do not notice. Everything after it is ordered roughly by how close a substitute it is for what HighLevel does, not by preference, and there is no score column because a score would be an opinion dressed as a measurement.
1. KBD Systems — best for the expert who wants the marketing done, not the tools handed over
What KBD Systems does well
It is the only entry on this list that arrives with the work already done rather than the tools to do it. It captures your voice, your beliefs and what you actually sell, then writes the offer, the landing page, the nurture sequence, the sales page and the launch from proven structures rather than a blank field. One flat price per plan: no credit system, no prepaid wallet, no per-message fee.
What could be better
It is pre-launch, so there is no free trial to poke at today and there is no proof wall, because there are no customers yet. The integration list is far shorter than HighLevel’s and there is no app marketplace at all. If you want a mature ecosystem and a hundred third-party add-ons, this is not that, and it will not be this year.
KBD Systems features
Content and hooks in your own voice, landing and sales pages, funnels, email broadcasts and sequences, behavioural automations, CRM with tags and contact timelines, offer design, launches, course and member-area delivery, checkout and subscription billing. White-label and multi-tenant, so an agency can run many brands from one place.
KBD Systems pricing
Four plans, one flat price each, everything included on every one; the plans differ by size and by how many businesses you run. Current numbers are on the pricing page — deliberately not repeated here, so this comparison cannot go out of date the day a price changes.
Who KBD Systems is best for
A coach, consultant, course creator or service business with a real offer, who has already discovered that owning a funnel builder and having a funnel are different things.
Verdict: KBD Systems vs KBD
HighLevel gives you twenty tools and the job of assembling a growth engine from them. KBD gives you the growth engine and asks you to approve it. HighLevel is more mature, broader, cheaper on the sticker and has an ecosystem KBD does not. If what stopped you was the blank page rather than the feature list, that difference is the entire decision.
2. Keap — best for a small service business that wants CRM and automation with a human on the phone
What Keap does well
Keap has been doing small-business CRM and automation since long before this category had a name, and it shows in the parts that matter least to a demo and most at month six: pipeline hygiene, invoicing, appointments and a support organisation that answers. It has dropped the feature-tier maze — the pricing page now sells one platform at one price, scaled by contacts.
What could be better
It is the most expensive entry point on this list by a distance, the interface carries two decades of history, and it is a CRM that grew marketing rather than a marketing system that grew a CRM. QuickBooks sync is its most-requested and most-complained-about integration.
Keap features
CRM and pipelines, email marketing and automation, appointments, quotes and invoicing, landing pages, text messaging, and a genuinely deep automation builder.
Keap pricing
One plan at $299/mo (billed annually at $2,988/year), including two user licences, with extra users at $39/month and the price scaling by contact count. Read off keap.com/pricing on 6 August 2026.
Who Keap is best for
A local or professional service business — a clinic, a law firm, a contractor — whose real problem is follow-up and invoicing rather than launches and courses.
Verdict: Keap vs KBD
Both leave the strategy to you. Keap is a better CRM than KBD is today and a worse fit for someone selling expertise: you will still be the person deciding what the email says.
3. Kajabi — best for course creators who want the product and the marketing in one place
What Kajabi does well
Kajabi is the most polished product on this list and the least likely to embarrass you in front of a customer. Courses, communities, coaching, payments and email all live in one account, and the delivery side — the thing your buyer actually experiences — is better than anything HighLevel ships.
What could be better
Contact limits bite early (2,500 on Basic), the automation builder is shallow next to HighLevel’s or Keap’s, there is no white-label, and using a third-party payment provider costs you a revenue share on top of the subscription.
Kajabi features
Course and community hosting, landing and sales pages, checkout, email marketing, basic automations, a mobile app for members, and analytics.
Kajabi pricing
Basic $179/mo, Growth $249/mo, Pro $499/mo, plus a limited Starter tier; a one-month free trial on every plan. Third-party payment providers carry a revenue share of 5%, 2%, 1% or 0.5% depending on tier. Read off kajabi.com/pricing on 6 August 2026.
Who Kajabi is best for
Somebody whose business is a course or a membership, not a lead-generation machine.
Verdict: Kajabi vs KBD
Kajabi is the better place to deliver what you sold. It is still a blank page when it comes to what your launch email should say — which is the half KBD exists for. The honest framing is that they solve different halves of the same business.
4. Kartra — best for the cheapest genuine all-in-one with a real funnel builder
What Kartra does well
Kartra is the value pick. For $59 a month you get pages, funnels, email, memberships, checkout, helpdesk and video hosting in one account, and it ships importable done-for-you campaigns, which is closer to “arrives with something in it” than anything else in this price band.
What could be better
The Essentials tier is tight — 500 contacts, one product, and a 5% transaction fee — so the real entry price for most people is the $119 tier. The interface feels a generation behind Kajabi’s, and the company has invested less in its own content and documentation than anyone else here.
Kartra features
Page and funnel builder, email and automation, memberships and courses, checkout and carts, video hosting, helpdesk, affiliate management, calendars.
Kartra pricing
Essentials $59/mo (500 contacts, 1 product, 5% transaction fee), Starter $119/mo (2,500 contacts, unlimited products, no transaction fee), Growth $229/mo, Professional $549/mo. 14-day trial, 30-day money-back. Read off kartra.com/plans-and-pricing on 6 August 2026.
Who Kartra is best for
A solo operator who wants one bill, one login and no usage meter.
Verdict: Kartra vs KBD
Kartra’s importable campaigns are the closest thing on this list to KBD’s idea, and they are templates: the same campaign every buyer gets, in nobody’s voice. That is the difference between a template and something written from your own material.
5. ClickFunnels — best for funnels first, with the largest body of published strategy content
What ClickFunnels does well
ClickFunnels invented the vocabulary this whole category uses and still has the best funnel editor and the deepest published library on funnel strategy and copywriting. The current plans are generous on contacts — 10,000 on the entry tier — and unlimited funnels.
What could be better
Course limits are low (three on Launch), the CRM is thin next to HighLevel or Keap, and the product has been through enough versions that half the tutorials you find online describe an interface that no longer exists.
ClickFunnels features
Funnel and page builder, email marketing, courses, a store, workflows, CRM basics, analytics, and an affiliate centre.
ClickFunnels pricing
Launch $97/mo (10K contacts, 3 courses), Scale $197/mo, Optimize $297/mo, Dominate $5,997/yr. 14-day trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Read off clickfunnels.com/pricing on 6 August 2026.
Who ClickFunnels is best for
Someone running one offer hard, who already knows what the funnel should say.
Verdict: ClickFunnels vs KBD
ClickFunnels is the one competitor that genuinely teaches the message rather than only the machinery — but it teaches it to you, in articles, for you to apply. KBD applies it. If you enjoy the craft, ClickFunnels is a real answer.
6. Systeme.io — best for the free and near-free end of the market
What Systeme.io does well
There is a genuinely free plan — 2,000 contacts, three sales funnels, unlimited emails — and it is not a two-week trial pretending to be free. Paid tiers start at $17/mo, there are no transaction fees on any plan, and the Unlimited tier includes a free migration service.
What could be better
Everything is a little simpler than you will eventually want: the page builder, the automations, the reporting. It is also the least polished brand here, and the company hosts so many customer funnels on its own root domain that its sitemap is full of them.
Systeme.io features
Funnels and pages, email, courses, memberships, blogs, affiliate program management, webinars on the mid tier, and sub-accounts on the top tier.
Systeme.io pricing
Free $0 (2,000 contacts, 3 funnels), Startup $17/mo, Webinar $47/mo, Unlimited $97/mo. Read off systeme.io/pricing on 6 August 2026.
Who Systeme.io is best for
Somebody validating an offer who should not be spending money on software yet.
Verdict: Systeme.io vs KBD
If your constraint is cash, take the free plan and do not read the rest of this page. If your constraint is that you do not know what to put in the funnel, a cheaper empty builder is not the answer to that.
7. ActiveCampaign — best for email automation with genuinely deep conditional logic
What ActiveCampaign does well
The best automation builder in this comparison, by some way, and about a thousand automation “recipes” you can import. If your problem is genuinely a segmentation and behaviour problem, this is the tool built for it.
What could be better
It is an email and automation platform first: pages, courses and checkout are either thin or absent, so it usually becomes one bill among several. And the pricing page does not display a flat starting price at all — it prices by contact volume through a configurator, which makes it the hardest product here to budget for in advance.
ActiveCampaign features
Email marketing, marketing automation, a CRM with sales automation, forms and landing pages, segmentation, and about a thousand importable automation recipes.
ActiveCampaign pricing
Not published as a flat figure. On 6 August 2026 the plan prices on activecampaign.com/pricing render only after you choose a contact volume, so there is no honest starting number to quote here. There is a 14-day trial with no card.
Who ActiveCampaign is best for
A business whose money is made in the follow-up rather than the first sale.
Verdict: ActiveCampaign vs KBD
ActiveCampaign will out-automate KBD today. It will also hand you an empty automation canvas and a thousand recipes for mechanics, none of which tell you what the email has to say.
8. HubSpot — best for a business that will hire a marketing team
What HubSpot does well
The free tier is real and generous, the CRM underneath is the best in this list, the reporting is in a different league, and nothing here will be outgrown. If your company is going to have a marketing hire and a sales hire, this is the platform they will already know.
What could be better
The cliff between Starter and Professional is enormous — $800/mo plus a one-time $3,000 onboarding fee — and the pricing model is per-seat and per-contact, so it charges you more as you succeed. For a one-person expert business it is comprehensively the wrong shape.
HubSpot features
CRM, email marketing, landing pages, forms, ads management, reporting and attribution, automation on higher tiers, and the largest integration ecosystem in the category.
HubSpot pricing
Free tier for up to two users. Marketing Hub Starter from $20/mo per seat billed monthly ($7/mo per seat on an annual commitment), Professional from $800/mo plus a one-time $3,000 onboarding fee, Enterprise from $3,600/mo plus a one-time $7,000 onboarding fee. Read off hubspot.com/pricing/marketing on 6 August 2026.
Who HubSpot is best for
A funded company with a team, not a solo expert with an offer.
Verdict: HubSpot vs KBD
Different weight class in both directions. HubSpot is built for an organisation that employs marketers; KBD is built for the person who does not want to be one.
9. Vendasta — best for agencies who want to resell a white-label stack
What Vendasta does well
The closest structural match to what HighLevel actually sells: a white-label platform and marketplace for agencies to resell to local businesses, with a client portal, billing and fulfilment built for that model. The subscription itself is $0 — you commit to a minimum monthly spend on products instead.
What could be better
It is unambiguously an agency-reseller platform. If you are the business rather than the agency, you are not the customer, and the whole product will feel like it was designed for somebody selling you to someone else — because it was.
Vendasta features
White-label client portal, a marketplace of resellable products, order and billing management, CRM and sales tools, reporting, and fulfilment services.
Vendasta pricing
Starter $0 subscription with a $99/month minimum of qualifying products, Professional $499/month minimum, Premium $999/month minimum, plus custom enterprise tiers. 14-day free trial. Read off vendasta.com/pricing on 6 August 2026.
Who Vendasta is best for
An agency whose business model is reselling software and services to local businesses.
Verdict: Vendasta vs KBD
If you are shopping for a HighLevel alternative because you want to resell, Vendasta is the real comparison and KBD is a partial one — KBD is white-label and multi-tenant, but it has no marketplace and no reseller economy around it.
See it before you decide anything
Nine tools, one honest summary: they hand you the builder. The question this page keeps circling back to is what goes in it.
KBD opens to a small first group. Leave your email and we will show you the system working before we ask you for anything.
Who should stay on GoHighLevel?
If you are an agency reselling HighLevel at a markup, if you send SMS or voice at volume, or if you have already finished building and it runs — stay. Leaving would cost you more than the thing that is annoying you.
No other page on this query has this section, which is strange, because it is the question a fair comparison has to answer. Here are the cases where HighLevel is genuinely the right answer and switching is a mistake.
Ordered by how clear-cut the case is
- You are an agency and the white-label economics work. A fixed platform fee against many client accounts, with usage rebilled at a markup, is a good business. Nothing on this list beats it at that specific job except Vendasta, and switching between the two is lateral.
- You send SMS or run voice agents at volume. Metered telecom is annoying to budget for and it is also the honest way to sell something that has a real per-message cost. Platforms that bundle it either cap you or price it into a subscription you pay whether you use it or not.
- You have already built it and it works. The setup cost is sunk. Funnels, workflows and pipelines do not export to anything, so leaving means rebuilding them somewhere else and paying the setup cost a second time.
- You have staff or a contractor who knows it. Operating knowledge is the expensive part. If somebody in your business already has it, that is worth more than any feature on this page.
- You need the marketplace. Nobody else has 1,000-plus third-party apps and a snapshot economy. If your workflow depends on one of them, that is the end of the discussion.
Can I move my funnels, emails and contacts off GoHighLevel?
Your contacts move. Your funnels, workflows and email templates do not — there is no export format another platform reads, so they get rebuilt. Budget for a rebuild rather than a migration, and do not cancel anything before the replacement is live.
Not one of the nine top-ranking pages on this query has a migration section. That is not an oversight — exit friction is the reason a lot of frustrated users stay, so nobody selling you the next platform wants to be the one to describe the work.
| What you have | Does it move? | How |
|---|---|---|
| Contacts, tags, custom fields | Yes | CSV export from the contacts view. Export tags and custom fields as columns, and check the tag list arrived before you trust it. |
| Conversation history | Partly | Exportable per contact, rarely importable anywhere. Most people archive it rather than move it. |
| Funnels and landing pages | No | Rebuilt. Screenshot every page and save the copy as text before you lose access — the words are the asset, not the layout. |
| Email templates and sequences | No | Rebuilt. Copy the body text and the timing into a document first. |
| Workflows and automations | No | Rebuilt. Photograph the canvas; the logic is quicker to re-implement than to re-derive. |
| Courses and members | No | Rebuilt, and members re-invited. This is the one that needs a communication plan, not just a technical one. |
| Phone numbers | Sometimes | Portable to another provider in most cases, but start early — porting takes days to weeks, not hours. |
| Active subscriptions | Careful | Live payment plans do not move with the funnel. See the switching guide before you touch anything billing-related. |
| Sending reputation | No | It belongs to the sending domain and infrastructure, not to you. A list that was warm on one platform can land in spam on the next. |
The full sequence — including the two things that break businesses, active subscriptions and deliverability — is in the guide to switching marketing platforms.
What this page does not have
No customer logos, no testimonials, no star ratings, and no score column — because KBD has no customers yet and inventing proof is the one thing we will not do.
What we can offer instead is method. Every price on this page was read off the vendor’s own pricing page on 6 August 2026, and every one of those pages is linked so you can check it. Where a vendor does not publish a number — ActiveCampaign’s plan prices, HighLevel’s usage rates — this page says that rather than estimating. Nothing here is an affiliate link, so nothing on this page pays us if you click it.
And one piece of proof that is free to verify: this page, the site around it and the emails behind its form were produced by the product being compared. That is not a testimonial, it is just checkable.
Questions people actually ask
Is GoHighLevel worth it?
It is worth it if you are an agency reselling it, because the white-label economics work: one fixed platform fee, many clients, and usage you can rebill. It is much harder to justify if you are a single business, because the price you pay is not really the subscription — it is the weeks of setup before anything runs, and you pay that in your own time.
Is there a free GoHighLevel alternative?
Systeme.io has a genuinely permanent free plan — 2,000 contacts, three funnels, unlimited emails — and HubSpot has a free tier for up to two users. Neither is a trial. If free is the requirement, start with Systeme.io.
What is the cheapest GoHighLevel alternative?
Systeme.io at $0, then $17/month. Among the full all-in-ones with a real funnel builder, Kartra Essentials at $59/month is the lowest published price, though its 500-contact ceiling and 5% transaction fee mean most people land on the $119 tier.
Is there an open-source GoHighLevel alternative?
Not one that replaces it. People assembling a self-hosted stack usually end up with several projects — a CRM such as Twenty or EspoCRM, an email sender such as Listmonk or Mautic, and a page builder — which is more tools to run, not fewer. If your reason for leaving HighLevel is that it was too much to operate, self-hosting is the wrong direction.
What is the best white-label GoHighLevel alternative for an agency?
Vendasta is the closest like-for-like: white-label client portal, resellable marketplace, agency billing. KBD is white-label and multi-tenant too, so an agency can run many client brands from one account, but it has no marketplace and no reseller ecosystem — it competes on what each brand's account arrives already containing, not on resale mechanics.
Why is my GoHighLevel bill higher than $97?
Because the subscription and the usage are billed separately. HighLevel's own pricing page states that phone numbers, SMS, emails sent and premium AI usage are charged on top, and add-ons such as the AI Employee are priced per sub-account rather than per account. The subscription is the floor, not the total.
Can I move my funnels and emails off GoHighLevel?
Contacts, tags and custom fields move cleanly by CSV export. Funnels, pages, workflows and email templates do not move — there is no export format any other platform reads, so they get rebuilt. Plan for a rebuild, not a migration, and read the switching guide before you cancel anything.
Which alternative is right for a solo business rather than an agency?
It depends on which half is broken. If you need somewhere to deliver a course, Kajabi. If you want one cheap bill for everything, Kartra. If you are validating and should not be spending, Systeme.io. If the problem is that you own the tools and still do not know what to put in them, that is the gap KBD was built for.

KBD opens to a small first group. Leave your email and we will show you the system working before we ask you for anything.
